Shikha, Bruce
โI was never much of a drinker, but Iโd have one while socialising. Now, itโs once in 4 to 5 months. That gentle shift has been really good for my health and for my mind and body.โ
Shikha decided to live life more intentionally a couple of years ago. To be more present and in the moment. Part of that decision was cutting back on alcohol.
โI think one of the driving factors for me to cut back on alcohol is I got into fitness and wellness and I became mindful of intentionally living my lifeโฆI wanted that balance of having a good time, but it doesn’t always require lots of late nights and alcohol.โ
The decision to drink less alcohol has made it easier for Shikha to do the things she enjoys.

โI’m not much of a morning person, but I think the changes that I’ve made by cutting back on alcohol and getting a good night’s sleep has helped me the next day because it helps me get up, go to the gym, get my workout in a lot earlier. Having more energy and feeling a bit more productive.โ
Shikha is a social person and connecting and having fun with friends has always been important. Cutting back on alcohol hasnโt changed that.
โThe only difference has been that I don’t need alcohol to have fun or feel like there’s a vibe now at a party. It’s just making that little bit of a shift from just grabbing a drinkโฆmaybe just, having a kombucha or, a sparkling water instead,โ
โSo, it hasnโt been a change in socialisingโฆ but a change in how I’m mindfully and intentionally choosing what I want to drink.โ The changes have left Shikha feeling good both physically and mentally.

โI’ve been able to sleep a lot better. I feel so much more energised in the morning if I’ve not had a drink the night before or a few drinks the night before.,โ
โI’m just feeling a lot better about my body, about my mind, and, feeling a little bit more grounded as well, and not always feeling tired.โ
