ย โ€œGedaliah was born and raised in Canberra. A couple of years ago Gedaliah cut out alcohol because she didnโ€™t like the way it made her feel.โ€

Gedaliah decided to cut alcohol out after an experience of drinking at a high level on a night with friends.

โ€œI couldn’t really remember the full night.ย It’s a bit scary thinking about it now, but I was around friends that looked after me, which was really good,โ€

โ€œBut after that night, I just said no, never again.โ€

Cutting out alcohol hasย  strengthened Gedaliahโ€™s connection with friends and loved ones.

โ€œBeing my full self in the present with no alcohol influence has really helped me appreciate the memories more and the activities we do together and being able to remember them as well is a big bonus.โ€

Making plans that donโ€™t revolve around alcohol has meant Gedaliah gets plenty of chances to appreciate time with her loved ones.

โ€œI love spending time with friends and family. My favourite activities are visiting new cafes and trying new food, picnics by the lake and being a tourist for the dayโ€ฆ. I like doing activities such as mini golf or bowling and going to the movies,โ€

โ€œThere’s so much the world and Canberra has to offer and you don’t need an alcohol drink you can just go out and have fun without it.โ€

Gedaliah has found her spirituality has been helpful in making change.

โ€œEver since becoming closer to God, I’ve felt stronger as a person to fully cut out alcohol.โ€
