Swaroop, O’Connor
โI usually say I’m Good to a drink because I don’t necessarily feel like I need to have a drink. I’m much more satisfied with the way I am without having a drink then by having one.โ
Swaroop moved to Canberra a few years ago. He lives in OโConnor with his wife and two kids. He cut out alcohol a couple of years ago when he and his wife found out they were pregnant.
What felt like a temporary decision has turned into something more permanent.

โMy wife found out that she was pregnantโฆone of the things that came to me straight away was that she was obviously not going to drink alcohol. I said to myself, โOh well, maybe I’ll just do the same thingโ,โ
โLittle did I know, it just completely changed the way I perceived drinking alcohol because it completely reset my mind frame.โ
The change in mindset started quickly. Swaroop noticed changes early on.
โThe first few weeks, you just generally noticed that you’ve got so much more energy. You don’t wake up feeling lethargic.โ
โAs you progress, you notice that you get a lot more clarity in your thinking and over time, your sleep just improves drastically.โ Cutting out alcohol has meant that he can be present with his kids.

โI feel like being available for my children when they wake up in the morning, that is just important for me as a parent,โ
โI just want to make sure that my kids feel like they’re loved and supported and that their parents are available for them.โ
